Finding Street Art in Rotterdam
I know I’ve been MIA for the past month, but there has been a lot going on lately. I will probably tell you all about it in a different blogpost, so for now let’s get to the next order of business. Those of you who follow me on Instagram already know what this blog post is all about, you’ve scrolled passed the colorful photo’s and you’ve seen me announce that the post will be up on the blog soon. Shumaly (who’s a friend of mine) and I have been trying to do a street art tour in Rotterdam for quite a while now, but we could never get around to it, because of our busy schedules. Then suddenly, we had a Friday off about two weeks ago. On top of that, our friend Zhwendeline also came to visit us from the UK, so we decided to make it a fun outing together.
One of the major reasons why I love living in Rotterdam (besides the food) is because of how artistic and modern the city is. There is art at every corner, if you can figure out exactly where. We downloaded the Rewriters app, which gives you the location of every single mural, shows you where exactly to go and gives you information on all of the murals. The route has about 48 stops, but there are definitely some hidden gems in the city that are not all on the map.
It took us quite a while, with taking pictures and all, so keep in mind that it might take you a day or two to finish the tour. You could choose to bike around, which will allow you to move around much faster. We decided to walk, because by walking you get to spot some of the artwork that might not be on the map. We didn’t get to finish, unfortunately, but we will definitely try to finish the route soon.
Next time you’re bored out of your mind, hop on your bike and head to the city center. There is so much art and so many murals to admire. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and I hope you enjoy some of the pictures below. These are just some of the MANY photo's we took during the tour. Should we finish the tour and post a part 2 on the blog? Let me know in the comment section!
All pictures where taken by Zhwendeline, Shumaly and myself. Yes, even the ones with the three of us on it. That's what timers are for (lol).
