Skincare: Coffee Scrub Soap

I’ve been trying to take better care of my skin and overall health since this year started. For a long time I’ve neglected proper skincare, but this year I decided to put an end to that. Since I have sensitive skin, some products tend to irritate the skin and cause a burning sensation. This has caused me to be on the lookout for products that are milder on my skin and are made with natural ingredients.

I didn’t have to search too long before I stumbled upon this coffee scrub soap by Shirley. Shirley is the owner of FitQueens, a gym in The Hague, Netherlands. FitQueens isn’t only a gym, it is also a community of women who are devoted to pursuing a healthier lifestyle and body positivity. Follow Shirley on Instagram, she is such an inspiration!(_fitqueens_)

Shirley shared with me that as she focused on a healthier lifestyle she notice that the skin was likely to receive less attention. With the industry filled with chemical-based products, she decided it was time to create her own, natural product line. Her product line (so far) consists of a body firming cream, to help you sweat more and keep the skin hydrated while working out and an ‘Anti-Cellulite Coffee Scrub Soap’. The products are made by hand in Curacao and they contain zero chemicals and synthetic additives. It’s mother nature’s very best presented in recycled packaging. They contain:

• NO parabens and chemical preservatives

• NO artificial fragrance

• NO alcohol

• NO synthetic colorants

• NO chemical ingredients

• NO petro-chemical

• NO animal fats or animal testing

The product I am using is the Anti-Cellulite Coffee Scrub Soap. The soap/scrub is sold as an anti-cellulite product, but is for anyone seeking to get rid off any marks or scars on the body. This scrub/soap is not meant for the face, but Shirley promised she will be working on face products next (honestly can’t wait).

Saponified sunflower oil, saponified coconut oil, saponified olive oil, distilled water, coconut charcoal, grounded coffee, seaweed and vitamin E.

The soap is packed with seaweed for improved elasticity, ground coffee for an extra exfoliating kick and skin-soothing coconut oil, olive oil and sunflower oil. You'll see a reduction in cellulite and overall smoother, healthier skin. Coconut charcoal in this soap will remove excessive dirt, oil and toxins. This soap is an amazingly indulgent way to firm, exfoliate and anti-oxidize skin and underlying tissues (as described by Shirley herself).

My Initial Thoughts

At first, the soap felt a little rough on the skin, this is mentioned in the description she sent me along with the product. Even though the scrub became less rough on the skin as I continued to use it, it still remained a bit uncomfortable to use on certain areas. It is definitely not to be used on delicate areas, but is perfect for your thigh, bum and back. I noticed immediately after first using the product that my skin felt much smoother and after about a week or two I could see my scars become less visible. I would recommend this product to everyone who has scars or marks that they want to get rid off. But I would also recommend it to anyone wanting to try more natural products or are aiming for healthier skin. This is definitely worth the try!

Where to buy The soap costs about 15 euros and can be bought through Shirley’s instagram page (link). You get quite a lot of product for the money you pay. Besides pampering yourself, you also invest in a local business and you also invest in a product that is kind to your skin and to the environment (how cool is that?).

I sincerely hope you enjoyed this blog and if you decide to try this product then share your thoughts and results with me. Thank you for reading!
